The Marilla Car, Truck & Cycle Show to Benefit Mercy Flight was established
in the year 2003 to help celebrate the Sesquicentennial of the Town of Marilla
as it turned 150 years old! This was originally thought to be a one time special
event but due to the enormous success this show has become a yearly tradition
for all to enjoy.
In just three years this show has grown to become WNY’s
largest car show. This show is truly unique as the streets of Marilla close down
to traffic so that some of the areas most gorgeous vehicles can line the streets
for all to view.
This show offers something for everyone. In 2004 the addition
of local artisans and a music festival was introduced to the show. The musical
line-up always includes a wide range of styles from classic rock, to blues, to
country. Some of the areas best have performed at the show. Some of the past
performers have included Blackest Red, national recording artist, Maria Aurigema, Crash Cadillac, & Willie and the Reinhardts. These are just a few of
the musical acts that have performed.
Also included in the 2nd year
of operation was the addition of artisans. Many of the areas finest local
artists display their one of a kind pieces to purchase. Many commercial vendors
are involved with the show so it is also a great place to pick up a new t-shirt,
helmet, or custom part for your vehicle. The shopping experience varies widely
from sunglasses to a custom paint job there is something for everyone.
The food
court is huge and the delicacies from some of Buffalo’s favorite taste treats
are everywhere. So whether you come to look at the vintage cars or the custom
cycles, or shop for an oil painting or custom etched mirror, or just listen to
music while getting a bite to eat, the day offers something for the whole
family.
The kids will enjoy seeing the Mighty Taco Sky Divers dropping in
overhead and the fly over and landing of the Mercy Flight helicopter are always
a huge crowd pleaser.
